If You Could Ask My Husband Anything...

This weekend, my husband dug up the entire backyard and replaced the plumbing mains to our house. Ummm, can you say HANDY?

Let me introduce you to the key players:

This is my handsome tractor-drivin' husband who sacrificed his ENTIRE weekend so that Ezra and I could flush toilets again.

This is Phil... the neighbor of all neighbors who sacrificed his ENTIRE weekend with his wife and child in order to spend countless hours de-lodging mud from a rented tractor bucket. Wee!

This is Craig- the brains behind the operation- who sacrificed his ENTIRE weekend so that he could teach Chris how to drive tractors and fix plumbing mains and lay new pipe and save his family over $2500.

Ehh... no biggie. I'd rather have toilets than grass.

This is where the busted pipe was. I'm thinking of asking Chris if we can just go ahead and extend this ditch all the way around the house so that I can finally have that moat that I've always dreamed of. Complete with Swans!

Someone else decided to help out as well...

Okay, I'm getting a little gooey inside...

...cutest thing I've ever seen...

AND I'm a puddle on the floor.

After all of this insanely hard work, my husband would come back into the house after it got dark, take a quick shower, and then play with Ezra until his bedtime because, GET THIS, he said he understood that I HAD HAD A LONG WEEKEND. Then he would put Ezra to bed and do the dishes and I may or may not have fallen asleep ridiculously early last night after a nice bath.

Lest you think I am some lazy bum, I must tell you that I totally contributed to the project as well. Once all the holes had been dug and the pipe had been laid and glued, Chris asked me to do the strenuous deed of flushing the toilet. THREE TIMES IN A ROW. It required all of my patience, strength, and skill, but it was the very least I could do to help. (YES, The very least.)

Chris is astonishing. Some mega-breed of husband. I don't deserve such goodness, yet he keeps piling it on. He works so hard for me... for us... and in some deep place in my heart it makes me feel like I am worthwhile... Like every shovel full of dirt he lifted was for me or something...

I am the luckiest girl in the world.

*******************************************

PS. I am still trying to convince my husband to write a guest post here at 'Moms are for Everyone', but he seems a little shy. If you get a moment, would you let him know you won't bite and maybe ask him a question or two to help guide his thoughts? You can ask him ANYTHING.

Except whether or not I snore. Because the answer to that is ABSOLUTELY NOT. (And if he tells you any different, HE'S LYING.)

I am having a terrible time reading your blog with the new layout. The black font blends in with the background.

Anyway - We'd love to hear from Chris. Maybe he could start out with a post of a really funny story he tells about you two or Ezra. A story Chris tells the best.

Melyni: Hmmm...I don't have a new layout! It should be the same old one...

What internet browser do you use?

Is anyone else having issues viewing?

Do you want to know what song was playing in my head while reading that?

Whatta man, whatta man, whatta man, whatta mighty good man!

~ En Vogue

Seriously!!!

Looks the same here, too.

Wow...swoon.

Chris - are you for real? Emery makes you sound like a fairy tale prince. :) You sound wonderful. Tell us how you feel about her...how you felt being young parents. You know the Emery/Chris story? Tell us what YOU were doing while she was trying to make sense of her feelings and the pain of being without you. Seriously, we'd love to hear from you!

I think that song "Whatta Man" was actually Salt N' Pepa?

If I could clone your husband for my best friend I would. Her husband is absolutely no help with THEIR children and it breaks my heart to hear how frustrated she is. She works full time too and doesn't get a moment to herself. My own father didn't help much but times have changed and men have progressed right? I do enjoy your blog and think you have a lovely family.

Yea for super-husband! And yea for my super boyfriend who took care of me as I lay dying (or as I lay with a cold). I think we should be neighbors soon. Eh?

Chris, charcoal or propane?

Way to brag on your husband!!

It would be cool to hear his version of the Emery/Chris story!

Never take that man for granted!

I too would find it interesting to hear his version of your story. I always think it's funny how differently my husband and I remember/experienced our "courtship." You guys seem like you'd be great fun to get to know!

Chris you should post some snippits ( I think that's a word) of your music...because I hear that as awesome as Emery says you are, you're even awesome-r (yes, I KNOW that one's not a word either) at music.

Looks the same to me too.

That's a good man!

Chris, what is the best thing about being a father? What is the hardest?

Cute pics!

Now my question for Chris:
Chris, will you come fix our pipes?
Not that we have pipes that need fixing...but someday we probably will...and lord knows none of us will know how to fix them.
Since you look at ease with kids on the job, you won't mind if we leave ours with you whilst the pipes are being fixed? ... No?

Here's a better question:
What was the veryfirst album you ever bought?

Wow. I'm impressed with the pipe fixing thing, of course... but the saying, "I know you've had a hard day" got me. My hubby is great about doing house repairs, but he knows HE has worked hard and thinks I should wait on him hand and foot afterwards. Hmph.

So, Chris is soooooo dreamy!!

so sweet! What a blessing to have such a hard and willing worker looking out for you. It's such a great example too, to see how much you appreciate him and all he does. I think as wives that is one of the most important things we can do for our husbands.
Maybe Chris could tell us what it's like being married to YOU! It's so neat to hear everything from your point of view, but it'd be great to hear what it's like living with all that Emery amazing-ness. :)

Yea it totally must have been an error on my computer. The beige background just wasn't there, it was the brownish one. Sorry to scare you!! It looks perfect today.

CHRIS-YOU ARE THE MAN! I HAVE ALWAYS HAD GREAT RESPECT FOR A PERSON WHO COULD TACKLE A PROBLEM WITH A "LET'S DO IT" ATTITUDE AND THE WILLINGNESS TO FOLLOW IT THROUGH. CONGRATULATIONS! YOU ALSO HAPPEN TO BE MARRIED TO THE MOST BEAUTIFUL DAUGHTER IN THE WORLD & JUST HAPPEN TO HAVE THE GREATEST GRANDSON EVER.

OMG we had to repalce our pipes one lovely winter too. It was quite the task. Isn't it great having men who can do ANYTHING, a jack of all trades.

I would love to hear some of Chris's music.

We did this at our house too...but we used shovels. It was like an old-fashioned barn-raising-style dig. The whole family came over with shovels and we dug all day. And, after I had dug all day, I made food for everyone, AND I put the kids to bed. I'm going to go tell my husband I love him, BUT he's a schmuck.

We're going to have to replace our main line to sometime - my husband would KILL to drive that digging machine, and he's pretty handy, so I'm wondering now if he'd go for it.

It looks like Chris worked so neatly too!

handy, indeed! wow that is awesome!

it rocks having an amazing husband, huh? i sure do love it.

Whenever we do meet I think our husbands will get along well...that is a nice thought.
For Chris...I too would jump on the bandwagon of hearing your perspective of your story. But also....
Top 5 Albums for lyrical content
Top 5 albums for musical content
and non music
Top 5 greatest moments in life thus far.

Hope he guest posts Emery...I'm trying to get my husband to do something similar and maybe this would inspire him!

wow Emery, 3 flushes? I'm impressed! Not to one up you or anything, but summer of 1995 I plunged over 250 toilets working at Hume Lake. Whether I like it or not, toilets are near and dear to my heart:)
About Chris...I too would love to hear his version of the Chris/Emery story, but we don't want him running for the hills at such a task. So, I vote with Lorie on some music snippits--then when we lure him into blogland, he can tell us the story.

Dear Chris,

Please answer this question for me, from a dude's perspective. If a girl has a crush on a guy, should she ever, ever, ever, under any circumstance let him know? And, if so, what are the best and most acceptable ways to do this... without the girl ending up a fool. If I really admire this guy, is it best for me to just keep being friendly and wait? Knowing that saying anything at all is likely to ruin our budding friendship. Okay, I think I've just answered my own question. I'm not saying a word.

Thanks for listening :)
