The Potty Sticker Chart.

Before we left Oklahoma over a month ago, Ezra was doing pretty well with potty training.

Since we've been in Reno, it has been going... not so well.

Today I am at my parent's house, and I don't have a car, so I decided it would be a good day to tackle the big boy potty once again.

I made a sticker chart and then promptly realized I didn't have any stickers, so I made some of those too. Ha.

If Ezra goes pee, he gets to put a sticker on the chart and then gets his choice of fruit snacks or a teddy graham cookie.

See the little grunting guy on the chart? He represents going poo-poo. If Ezra goes #2, which he still has never done on the potty, he gets some little new toy. (like a new hot wheels car or something.)

Lord, I hope this works. I am so sick of changing diapers. And buying diapers.

Any potty training tips for me? I feel like I have no idea what I'm doing. (Because I DON'T.) I mean, maybe this chart will do more harm than good... maybe Ezra will be grown and still demanding candy every time he goes potty? That would be real lovely.

What worked for you more experienced parents out there?

Don't worry, it'll be over soon! For sure by kindergarten, there's that whole peer pressure thing, ya know? Kidding, of course. My two older boys were done at around 2 1/2. Dry at night even. My secret? I let them run bare and when they 'went' I'd give them candy. Then when they had the hang of it I said "No more diapers!". Trust me, when they're not wearing diapers or pull ups, you'll remember to take them to the bathroom every half hour. It worked like a charm both times. I blogged about it - not sure how many details I shared, though. Good luck to you!

First of all, I LOVE your little chart and "stickers"-- they are super cute!! He'll have so much fun with those.
My friend e-mailed me a potty training manual that I would swear by. It worked like a charm, and within the week my 2-year-old daughter was potty-trained (except, of course, for the occasional accident, but what small child doesn't have those?)
hmmm... I wonder if I still have it in my e-mail, and then I could e-mail it to you, if you are at all interested? I'll go check, just in case. :)

I think the chart is great. I also think if you want to kind of even out the toy/treat thing, you could do some of the "prizes" as things he loves to do, like an extra story at bedtime or an extra 15 minute blues clues or Thomas video during the day...just in case the fruit snacks get old. :D

The only real advise I can give you is to get Daddy involved. I struggled for months potty training my son on my own (his dad was in Iraq at the time). Dad got home and he was trained within two weeks. My son wanted to be "big" like daddy and watching him helped. Good luck!!!

You need potty training rewards. The treats and audion acknowledgements were powerful to fully potty train out two year old son. As the parent, what I really liked is it was very inexpensive. Here is the website www.pottytrainingrewards.com

First off you and your chart are hilarious "VROOM you Rule", so so so cute.

I am going through the same thing with my daughter, she turned 2 in August. I am trying not to push it though, I don't want to give her "potty issues". My mom makes fun of me when I say that. My daughter sometimes tells me when she needs to potty but then refuses to sit on the toilet.

Do you think you could pass on Talia's potty manual to me. I would really appreciate it.

Babies R Us sells pee targets. Boys love those. It looks like sort of large confetti pieces. You sprinkle a few in the potty and he gets to aim for them. We did stickers and treats too. (Getting them to poo is the hardest. No type of bribe worked for that.)

Both of my kids just finally did it when they were ready. The girl was a little over 2.5 and the boy was a little after his 3rd b-day.

Good luck! (The chart is CUTE!)

OH MY GOODNESS, Darrin, that video was totally worth it! HAHAHAH! I love it! I plan to show it to Ezra as soon as he wakes up... we have the same sense of humor so I know he'll think it's so funny too. :)

oh yeah i totally agree with Miss, get the hubs involved, that was the hardest part the first time, that rob was okay just leaving him in his diaper. once rob got on board it was smooth sailing.

Glad you liked it :)
They sell those pee targets at Wal-Mart too, they're called Cheerios. I still practice :)
OK, thats a little much. I'm done.
