The Girl's Name Shortlist.

If Myer had been a girl...

My (not necessarily my husband's, mind you...) girl's name short list:

1. Dagny - the heroine of my favorite book, and my most favorite girl's name ever.
2. Harlow - okay, yes, I heard it from nicole richie's baby girl first, but I LOVE it. I would call her 'Lowie'.
3. Clemency - merciful.
4. Dignity - just plain cool and beautiful.
5. Lucy - 'light'. One Chris and I both liked a lot. It's more popular, but the adorableness of it makes up for that.

Also, fun fact: I was almost named 'Delaney'.

Cute!

Rockin' names! I love names. I'm definitely an onomastomaniac. I, too, love Lowie!

My husband really likes Delaney.

Do you think you will have more babies? Hope you don't mind me asking such a personal question--perhaps you've answered that before somewhere in a previous post.

Harlow was my first pick and was shot down by my husband who has thing for picking extremely popular, extremely boring names.

And so my baby will be nameless.

I was just thinking of names today! I like the name Grendel for some reason. Maybe as a middle name. Too bad about the whole Beowulf thing though. Maybe I'll name my future cat that? It is a beautiful Sunny Day Real Estate song.

I think Harlow is a gorgeous name and Dagny is wonderful!

I thought Harlow was cool when I first heard it. I could never pick a name like that if a hollywood person did first though....would feel too much like an adoring fan or something. Maybe I'm just jealous Nicole Richie thought of it first! I ended up naming my daughter after the creek that ran behind my childhood home. I loved playing there and it was a very special part of my childhood. And I loved the name, Christiana. A special place, and a special little girl!

I like Clemency but my husband is so not gonna go for anything unusual and exciting like that. If I had been a boy I would have been John which I think is boring. I'm glad I was a girl!

I laughed at your comment Hunnybee, about Nicole Richie. Funny enough, my Harlow Nicole was born on the 1st of January and Harlow Madden was born on the 11th. To this day I get asked if I "took" the moniker from the famous couple. It can get rather annoying! :)

Jules...I love Harlow Nicole! That's really beautiful. Naming kids is a trip. We really liked the name Maia, but our last name is May and my hub's family had a FIT. I thought it was cute, Maia May. I ended up picking a name I liked better anyway, but still. Some people have no respect!

Dagny and Lucy were both on my list too.

My husband never read "Atlas Shrugged" and so he nixed it right away.

Since my in-laws had a dog named Lucy, we went with Claudia.

(also on our short list, Marin and Chloe)
