Pregnant! Week Five.

Thank you all so much for your excitement and well-wishes! We are THRILLED and have been having a blast telling our friends and family the exciting news this past week. WE'RE GONNA HAVE A BABY!!!!! &^@%*&^@%#*(&@#)(@!!!

Here are the deets:

I'm about 5 weeks along right now. Baby is the size of a sesame seed. I feel really good except that I am bloated. ALL THE TIME. This happened with Ezra, too. I felt like a hot air balloon for the first couple of months. Wee! Quite uncomfortable. I also have moments during the day where I get extremely sleepy and all I want to do is nap. But, um, that doesn't happen so much with it being crazy-toddler-central round here. Ah, well! Also, I just want to eat cookies and cheesecake all the time. I don't remember feeling this way when I was pregnant with Ezra, but I sure as heck feel that way now. I'm limiting myself, of course, and drinking lots of water during the day.

Baby will be here around January 24th- Ezra came a little early, so I'm guessing it will be mid-Jan sometime.

I did not get morning sickness at all on my first go-round, so I am praying it will be the same with this pregnancy. So far, so good. My mom never had morning sickness either. I wonder if it's a genetic thing? Does anyone know?

Chris and I are contemplating having a home birth this time as well. We are still in the 'research' phase of all of this, but it is something I am leaning towards more and more. For now, I have my first appt. scheduled with a group of midwives that are based out of OU Medical Center. If I use them, I would give birth in a hospital, but have a natural birthing plan set in place and a midwife-guided labor. (Like I did with Ezra.) Either way will be great I'm sure, we're just trying to figure out which option fits us best at this point.

How crazy is all this? It still hasn't sunk in that there will be another human in our family in less than a year. Woah!

We went to a friend's house for dinner tonight, and there was a little baby there. Ezra wanted to hold the baby and 'snuggle' the baby and you could tell that he is REALLY excited to be a big brother. He was so sweet with her, I almost keeled over right then and there from the dangerous levels of CUTE floating about the place. It was totally ridiculous. He's such an amazing boy.

Ezra knows that there is a baby growing in mommy's tummy, and he has matter-of-factly determined that it is a baby sister. He's so excited! Then, he goes on to explain that there is also a baby brother growing in HIS tummy as well. Hmmm... good luck with that one, buddy. hehe.

Congrats. I'll try not to hate you for never having morning sickness. My mom never had either, so I just assumed I'd be okay. I of course ended up in the ER with both kids sicker than sick. It was so bad I've seriously decided that this is it for us. Two is good. Sick is bad.

If you're craving cheesecake, then I'd say it's quite possible you're having a girl!! Just my guess!

Hmmmm.....cheesecake. Cheese. Cake. Cheesecake and cookies.

I have to go to the store. Bye.

Congratulations!! My husband and I are expecting our first baby, and I'm 6 weeks along right now. I'd never wish bloating on anyone, but it's still nice to know that I'm not alone. :)

Yeah, totally a girl. My brother called it with me. Older brothers have some weird way of knowing. Also - let's push for January 12th!! It's a great day to get born.

thats so awesome you're thinking about home birth! its an experience like nothin else!... hopefully you wont get sick... mom didn't either, but i dont think its genetic, i think its based on how you handle you're own hormones, my sister seems like the type who will get sick.... i didn't get sick with ara AT ALL, but this time around week 6 or 7 i started feeling sick, never puked but was miserable everyday. it was THE WORST, cause i've never experienced being stomach sick that long...

I'm so excited for you, and allow me to introduce myself. I'm Emily and I've occasionally read your blog over the past few months. Congratulations on your pregnancy! I'd love to talk with you about homebirth if you ever have questions or just want to chat about it. Our fourth was born at home last February and it was one of the highlights of my life. :-)

Congratulations, and it's cool that your schedule reminds me of our family's-- my son was about three when his sister was born in mid-January.

Ezra will learn soon enough the miracle of not being able to grow a baby in one's tummy, so one doesn't even have to call "Not it!" when baby-having time rolls around.

Good luck growing another adorable baby!

So I live in the OKC area and know of a mid wife that my friends absolutely love I can try and get details if you want.
I used the midwives at OU after having to home births. I did enjoy it, especially since I had 4 more waiting at home and I was a little pampered at the hospital before going home.
Just leave a comment on my blog and let me know if you want more details for the midwife. The one I used isn't by herself anymore she is part of a clinic somewhere.

I am a blog stalker...I have been following your blog through Shawna Herring. She is the Aunt to my very best friend....a friend which just had a little baby girl via a very successful home birth. So successful that it was too good to be true. Anyway, I thought I would give you a link to her blog....the blog was just created to document her pregnancy....I wish you the best of luck! ;)

Danae can way better respond to this one because she is the one who had her baby at home...but I remember they had some problems getting Ethan into a pediatrician because he was born at home...just something to check into while you are doing your research.
